Mrs. K's Toll House Restaurant & Barrel Bar is a wonderful place for a Silver Spring wedding at any time of year. Its light-filled rooms and the surrounding gardens envelop guests in the beauty of the outdoors from the first blooms of spring through the golden hues of autumn. In wintertime, guests may cozy up in the rustically elegant wine cellar and Barrel Bar or glance out the large windows at blankets of silvery white snow.
My very favorite time of year to photograph weddings at Mrs. K's is during springtime. Just before Maryland welcomes the balmy days of summer (I'm being kind here!), the lawn and gardens are abloom in fresh shades of green, purple, pink, and yellow. This is a perfect setting for a garden wedding.
Brides and grooms may take their vows under the gazebo, surrounded by flowering plants then mingle and dance the night away under the stars. The setting here is peaceful, naturally beautiful, and relaxed. I've photographed all sorts of wedding ceremonies and receptions here, from laid back nuptials to more formal events. The dapper young fellow pictured above is quite at home here at this historic Maryland landmark (once an operating tollhouse) with its manicured grounds and antique-filled rooms. But Mrs. K's is also one of the best places in Maryland to have an informal family gathering. I just love it when folks kick off their shoes and have a great time celebrating as themselves, together.
