“Memory is an invitation to the source of our life,
to a fuller participation in the now, to a future about to happen,
but ultimately to a frontier identity that holds them all at once.
Memory makes the now fully inhabitable.”
~ David Whyte
Q&A WITH THE BRIDE
What’s your love story? How did you meet?
“We first met eleven and a half years ago when Matt was in his third year of law school and I was considering going to law school. We were introduced so I could pick his brain about his law school experience. It may have taken us a little while to figure out that we just couldn’t live without each other, but it was worth the wait. This is why our first dance song, ‘At Last’ by Etta James was so appropriate… and also held meaning for our guests who have been waiting a long time for this day, too!”
What are your 3 favorite wedding day memories?
1. “When we finally got a few minutes alone together at our sweetheart table to let the fact that we just got married sink in! That was so wonderfully raw and emotional for us.” 2. “Matt says his favorite memory of the wedding was watching me come down the aisle, especially when I finally became fully visible after coming through the gardens. Up until that moment he was only catching glimpses of me as my dad and I weaved our way through the roses.” 3. “How involved our families and loved ones were in the wedding day: from our dear friend John officiating, to our bridal party filled with our family and friends, our special family/friends who did beautiful readings for us, my nephews and friends who passed out our blessing stones and programs, and on and on. We were so overwhelmed by the love and support.”
What advice would you give for newly engaged couples?
“You are going to get stressed out in the planning process — just accept it, don’t let it detract from what is really important, and know it’s all worth it in the end. On your wedding day, stop and remind yourself a couple times throughout the whole experience to take it all in. It goes by SO fast.”
